🖥️amberSearch Desktop Application deployment and configuration

• MSI Installer can be downloaded via the following link: amberSearch.msi download
• Silent installation
  • If the app is rolled out centrally, a silent installation can be carried out using the following parameters:
    • For .exe with the parameter "/S" (note the capital S!)
    • For .msi with the parameter "/qn"

As an IT administrator, you have the ability to configure the AmberSearch desktop app to suit your organization’s needs. You can manage default settings for users, control how the app behaves, and streamline the deployment process across your Windows-based environment. Desktop app settings can be set by Windows Group Policy. 

Configure settings with registry locations

Settings can be configured in the registry under the HKLM (machine-wide) hive under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\amberSearch\Defaults

Supported Settings

Setting	Description	Value
autoUpdater	Determines whether the desktop app should look up for updates and install them automatically.	REG_DWORD 1* (enabled) 0 (disabled)
workspaceUrl	By default the desktop app's landing page is https://app.ambersearch.de. For a better user experience, we advise you to set this value to the amberSearch URL assigned to your company.	REG_SZ A valid URL for the default workspace, e.g https://customerName.ambersearch.de
startAtLogin	Determines whether the desktop app is started automatically, once the user logs in to their Windows PC. We strongly advise you to keep this enabled. Otherwise, certain features of the desktop app might be affected.	REG_DWORD 1* (enabled) 0 (disabled)
showNotifications	Determines whether the users receive a Windows notification with a hint on how to access the desktop app via Shortcut. To increase user engagement we strongly advise you to keep this enabled.	REG_DWORD 1* (enabled) 0 (disabled)
